Italy Day 9 - Part 2
After leaving the Vatican we went to a castle across the street. It was used to protect the Popes when there was danger. Taking a break and enjoying the beautiful views!

Our stomachs started growling so it was off to find some good pizza for lunch. We found a great restaurant that made us Tuna, Tomato and Mozarella Pizza. We were surprised to see how often they use Tuna.
Also, they use raw vegetables as toppings too! After Tammi and I finished we headed off to shop while the guys enjoyed coffee and dessert. We were in the art district so every little alley was filled with all sort of artisans.I am pictured here with two artists who make jewelry. Tammi and I picked up some of their great jewelry! We had a great time actually being able to meet the people who made the things we were purchasing. We then found an open air market and found even more goodies.
We totally lost track of time and by the time we got back to the guys we found them like this down the alley way.
We then headed back to the hotel to change for dinner. Here are a few more sites we went by on the way.
For dinner we headed to the area of Rome called Spanya. This is a beautiful upscale area of Rome. In Spanya there are the "Spanish Steps". We are not too sure why they are so important but everyone hangs out there at night on them. We wanted to go to his restaurant called Matricianella but by the time we got there it was totally full.

Time sure flies when you're having fun. I'm glad you've been able to blog all along! I always end up waiting to blog when I get home since the kids are always needing something or another when I might have some down time to blog and then it takes me FOREVER to get caught up when I get back!
Cindy - I wasn't going to bring my computer but changed my mind at the last minute. I am so glad I did now because I have the majority of the blogging done. I need to go back and fill in the blanks . . share what we are looking at in each picture. I didn't have time to do that while there.
