What A Day!

When I wokeup this morning I had my WHOLE day planned out. I knew I had a whole lot to do before leaving for New York so I got up to start the day. I headed out first to go to the bank to deposit a check for Jordan. Then it was to the nail salon to get my pedicure . . . ( I missed you Lisa . . .a pedicure just isn't the same without you :-) Then the kids and I headed to the high school to drop off two books that Alexia forgot to turn in at the end of the year.

On the way to the high school the car died at a stop light. I had to drive Alexia's car this week because both of our vehicles are in Kansas City with Carlos and the kids. I started praying, "Please Lord . . .let the car start again!!!" Praise God it did. We then went to the school and then headed toward a little suberb to go make Jordan's car payment for him. While headed that way my nephew called on my cell to ask Landon to come over to play. He and my brother in law Rick were actually in the car headed toward home. I told him where we were headed and he said I will be through that area in about 20 minutes . . I said perfect . . . me too!

So, I was halfway there when we started to smell something burning . . .then I looked at the dashboard and the oil light was flashing. I called Rick and asked him what I should do . . . he asked what the thermostat said . . .I couldn't believe my eyes . . .it was past the "H" . . the car was burning up . . . he said there was an Advanced Auto Parts store about 3 miles up the road from where I was . . . he said try to make it there and he would meet me there.

I started praying like crazy . . .I knew I was taking a risk of blowing the engine but it was close to 100 degrees out and I didn't want to get stranded on the side of the road with the kids. I made it to the auto store . . . Rick made it there too and then he became my HERO :-) He totally took over for me . . .He checked things out and he said the oil was totally gone . .which is hard to believe because we just had her oil changed 1000 miles ago. He said to get in his truck and he would take me to make the car payment and then grab some lunch while the car cooled down.
What an angel he was for us today. We finished lunch and then headed back to the car. I bought 5 quarts of oil and then we started the car again. The temp showed normal so he said let's head towards home . . .he would follow me. Well, we got about 1 mile down the road and the temp zoomed up past "H" again. I called him and he said to pull over at the first gas station. We got to the station and then he added water to the radiator . . .the engine was so hot that it started boiling the water as it went in. He put in as much as he could .

My parents who were on their way to my house to watch the kids for the weekend happen to call just then and they were about 10 minutes away. I told them what happened and they came to the gas station. Both Rick and Dad thought we could make it back to the house which was about a 15 minute ride. I was so nervous the car was so HOT . . . .but thankfully we made it.

When we got to the house Rick checked out the car again.

Whil the car cooled down again he and my nephew Ricky came in to visit a little bit . . he had not seen my parents in a very long time so we had a nice time chatting.
Ricky and Landon headed upstairs to play some Playstation 2
After the car cooled down again, my dad and Rick went back out to the car to add some more water.
The car was still smoking and the water started boiling over. My dad is going to find someone to look at the car while I am gone. Rick - you were my HERO today! Thank you so much for helping me out! After all that drama of the day I was too tired to cook so my dad treated us to dinner at Chick Fil A. Fast food never tasted so good :-) I was so tired and hungry! Lisa and I were suppose to workout after dinner but there is no way I have the energy to hit the gym tonight.
Thanks mom and dad for dinner!
My night ended on a high note. Lisa called and said she had got me something . . .I didn't have a car to drive over to her house to get it so Ken brought it over to me because Lisa was feeding Ava and I was getting ready to head to bed soon. She ended up getting me the cutest top from Old Navy . . . .thanks Lisa . . . I love it!

Well, I need to check my bags and make sure I didn't forget anything . . .I have to wake up around 4:30 am because our flight leaves at 7:30 am . . . I will NOT have my computer in New York so I will not be able to blog until Sunday night when I get home. I can't believe I am going to leave my computer but I am going to take the weekend off from the machine!

I will see you all when I get home!
Another big thank you to Rick, my parents and to Lisa . . . .!!!!!!!!!!!!!
