Alexia's New Home Sweet Home

Back when Jordan first started school we ended up finding a great deal on a home. We filled that home with 6 IHOP male students which their rent pays for that home.
When Alexia decided to go to school there too Carlos started looking for another great deal. He found a house that was just about ready to go into foreclosure. Plus, we found 5 girls who were ready to rent out the rooms.

The house was abused by the past owners and it needed a lot of TLC. When we got to KC last Monday we arrived to a huge mess. The garage was filled with garbage and I mean filled. Also, there was garbage all over the front and back yards and the grass was about 2 feet tall . . .Ugh.Carlos got busy removing trash and garbage. I wish I would have taken a before picture but I was so disgusted I didn't even think about it. He also removed all the trash that filled the yard.Over the last month we had a friend of our working on the inside. We had it painted and new flooring put in.

This is the family room. The basement is still being worked on so Tasha who will be living down there has her stuff upstairs until it is ready.
This hallway holds 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bathroom needed some TLC so we are replacing the vanity and . . .

the tile in the bath and shower. This will be finished by Saturday.
Here is Alexia with Chelsea one of her friends and new roommates.

This picture shows the inside of part of the kitchen. We are going to build a pantry against this empty wall.

The bottom cabinets are damaged so we are replacing them. Also, our good friends Martha and Nathan blessed Alexia with a brand new microwave, a coffee pot, toaster, cookware set and dishes. What a blessing! There is a deck off the kitchen which was in need of HUGE repairs. The contracters will have it all fix and finished by Saturday.
Downstairs there are two more bedrooms but they are currently being remodeled. The bathroom was so bad we are having to redo the whole thing.

We were so tired after the first day of working . . .this is a lot of work!
