Volunteering and Finished Book 5 - Reunion
This morning I was waiting for the library at Sierra' school to let me know if the Scholastic Truck had arrived with all the books for the Book Fair. When I called at 10 am it was not there yet so I decided to finish up Book # 5 of Karen Kingsbury book called Reunion. For those of you who are reading the Redemption series . . .be prepared to have Kleenex with you when you read this one. I finished the book around noon and then decided to head to the school anyways.
Before going to the school I stopped at the local library to see if my next 5 Karen Kingsbury books had arrived from the other libary. Luckily they were sitting there on the shelf waiting for me. These next 5 books are called the Firstborn Series. This is a continuation of the Redemption Series. I am so excited to start the first book called FAME tonight!
When I arrived at the school I found out that the truck still had not arrived yet. So, I had the librarians put me to work in the media center. I worked there until 2:00 pm and then left to head to the grocery.
I picked the kids up from school and then came home and rested for a bit. Started dinner around 4:30 and now I am waiting for Lisa to get home so we can head to the gym.

I keep hoping the library will order this in or get it on ILL for me! I can't even believe I'm saying this... ME the one who NEVER likes to use the library!
I never really used the library either until I started reading these books. Now, I even order the books online and they ship them to the library right down the street . . .I then pick them up and they are mine for 3 weeks! Also, I can call to renew them over the phone :-)
Oh by the way, did you see my comment to you about the recipe tonight . .. I didn't use a crockpot but a Nesco Roaster Oven . ..
I'm confused about this author...is it mystery? Romance? Suspense? All or none of the above?
De'Etta, when you have time go to her website www.karenkingbury.com She calls her books Life Changing Fiction.
From her own words:
Jesus was the original storyteller . . .
When Jesus wanted to teach the people something straightforward, he spoke in simple, factual sentences. But when He wanted to touch the hearts of those around Him, He told a story. I believe that when Jesus told the parable of the prodigal son, or the Good Samaritan or any other, that there was great emotion in the storytelling. I picture the people standing around, mouths slightly open, tears in their eyes. Jesus used story to get a point across, to change hearts. Why? Because stories have a way of getting past the walls of our hearts, and taking root in the most tender places of our souls. I believe that is what God still wants from those who are gifted to write stories. This is why I write Life-Changing Fiction.
I pray that as you explore the books listed here, you will be changed by the stories, and that you will find yourself in a closer walk with God and the people He's put in your life. Don't forget to sign the guestbook and tell me how God has touched your life through the power of story!
Emily, Should these books be read in particular order? Does her website provide that? I'll be checking these out!
Hi Carolyn,
There are certain series that should be read in a certain order. I just finished the REDEPMTION series - it was five books Redemption, Remember, Return, Rejoice and Reunion. I just started the series that follows that called the First Born Series - it also has five books Fame, Forgiven, Found, Family and Forever. The last series (which she is still in the process of writing some of them is called the Sunrise Series - Sunrise, Summer, Soldier, Someday, Sunset.
The three series should be read in that order.
She has another 2 book series which can be read together called
Tuesday Morning and Beyond Tuesday Morning. These books have nothing to do with the above series . . but they were just as good!
Happy Reading!
Emily,
Thanks for listing out the series and the order in which you should read them. I just checked our library again and they DO have these books, but they don't come up when I search for Kingbury. They did come up when I searched by Smalley though! WHOO HOO! I can hardly wait to start them.
Start with the REDEMPTION series. You can find the exact order at karenkingsbury.com
