Camping and Ministering in the Mountains in Southern Washington!
For years Carlos has ministered in the Portland and Seattle area at many Russian Christian churches. He has had a wonderful relationship with Pastor Vasily and his wife Elaina. We are actually doing an "Encounter Weekend" for his whole church up here in the mountains in Southern Washington state!

The church members all brought tents and are camping here . . . our ministry team and the churches ministry team are staying in the cabins. This is where the guys are staying.
The girls are staying in this building.
There is a nice kitchen here when the wonderful Ukranian women are making the most wonderful Russian food!

After lunch our ministry team met up for prayer before the afternoon service began.

This is one of the translator's that is translating the services into Russian.
The our praise and worship team started us out with wonderful songs of worship!

My gg-grandmother came from Ukraine, and I have a book that was written by her sisters detailing their lives as they traveled back and forth to Canada, deciding where their hearts lay.
What a BLAST that Lisa is along for this too!
Emily, let me know if you have plans to take any side trips while you're there, to either the Leavenworth area or San Juan Islands. My sil/bil own a store in Leavenworth, and my mom lives on one of the islands, and all can give you great tips if you head either way.
Kristine - how cool that you are part Ukrainian. I would love to read that book someday. Is it published? I was talking with Pastor Vasily yesterday and he was telling how both his parents were in Nazi concentration camps. It was a miracle how they were both saved and made it through.
I am not sure if we will have time for any side trips. We are ministering all day today and Carlos is preaching at a Ukrainian church Sunday morning and a different one Sunday night. If we get out on Sunday morning after church . . .it would be the only
time.
They invited us to come back in July so that time we will have more free time. I would love to get the information about the places for that visit :-)
What an exciting time for y'all. I love it when our worship team gets to go somewhere to minister. It's a great time of bonding for the team.
No, it was never published, just the typed manuscript copied and passed around to different family members.
It IS a wonderful thing to have. Until I read it, I never KNEW we were Ukrainian, in fact I never knew we had family that had come from Canada. We weren't very close to my grandfather. My g-grandmother was hospitalized for several years before passing away from TB when my grandfather was young, and he just never said a word about any of it.
Hah, but OUR lives live on in our blogs, don't they?!
Kristine- that is true. If it wasn't for everyone's blog we would all never have that sneak peak into our lives! I am glad so many of us on SHS have blogs. I think it has knitted us closer together! Even if we all never have a chance to meet in "real life" . .. we all have a friendship bond that will be around forever!
