Valentine Decorations!

Growing up at my house meant our home would be decorated for each holiday. My mom always made each holiday or birthday so special. When I got married back in 1987 I continued on with that tradition. So, each holiday are home becomes infused with decorations. On February 1st of each year is the day the Valentine decorations come out. Here is a little peak at some of our decorations.
I bought this welcome sign years ago when on a family vacation with our friends Scott, Tammi and their kids up in Boone, North Carolina. I love it because there is a little sign that hangs on the hanger for each holiday.

The china cabinet gets a new look for Valetine's!

My friend Giselle gave this to me years ago. I bring it out every Valentine's. It is a poem called Friendship.
Friendship is a priceless gift
That can't be bought or sold.
Its value is far greater
Than mountains made of gold.
If you should ask God for a gift
Be thankful if He sends
Not diamonds, pearls or riches
But the love and trust of friends!
Thanks Giselle for this lovely gift you gave me years ago. Thanks for being my friend!
Even the toilet gets a little "love"!

WOW. I'm SO impressed Emily. You really go all out decorating for all occasions. By the 1st of Feb I'm still trying to recuperate from the Chrismtas decorating (LOL).

I should also add that if I even TALKED about decorating I'm 99.99% certain my kids would have a FIT because they always have to help and know how much work it is! (LOL).

You know, to be truthful, there have been some years where I do not want to decorate but then I feel bad for my little guys . . .I feel like I have jipped them out of something the older guys have always had . . .so I keep on keepin on :-)

My dh is the holiday decorator here. He's even made me promise, numerous times, that if anything ever happens to him, I keep decorating the house for holidays!

Ahhhhh Kristine! I think it is opposite here . . I have told Carlos the same thing if anything ever happens to me.

LOL... then I suppose my family has nothing to worry about. Honestly, if something happens to me I think they would be relieved to not have to do all of the Christmas decorating. ALL of my kids were asking to have a simpler Christmas this year as far as the decorating. We only put up 1/2 of what we normally do and they STILL wanted to put up less >VBG>! I must have gone wrong somewhere.... All they wanted was the tree and NOTHING else >VBG> Maybe I should do that this year and then see if they miss the other things.

Cindy - a few years ago I was going through some rough times. That particular year I didn't decorate for Valentines, Easter, 4 of July . . by the time fall rolled around my kids were practically begging me to decorate! It made me feel good that at least they enjoyed it and appreciated it.

Emily--you are so creative! What beautiful Valentine's decorations. Does it take you very long to take everything out, put it up and decorate the house? My family loves to help with the decorating but manages to vanish for the 'undecorating' time. Ha! My problem is finding all my decorations - I buy something and then lose it (or don't remember about it)until the holiday has completely passed. I've done that several times with some fall things I have. It helps to have a good system for organizing and storing it all. I'm sure you have it figured out after all these years. Fun!

I have Rubbermaid containers lined up against the wall of my garage. I don't know if you remember but I posted a picture back when I was deep cleaning that showed the garage. Anyways, in those containers hold all Christmas, Valentines, Easter, St Patricks, 4 of July, Fall/Harvest/ Thanksgiving decorations. I only have to containers for Valentines so it only took me about 30 minutes to put everything out. I am usually the only one that decorates for all the holiday's EXCEPT for Christmas . . that one is a family affair!

WOW! The decorations are great, you go all out! Very nice. Looks like you have been busy too with many parties and showers.

Thanks Jodi - actually I only have 2 containers that hold the Valentine stuff . . it's pretty easy to put out and put away! :-)
