Our Wedding Pictures
I have been on a certain email list for around 7 years maybe more - I have actually lost count. Even though I have not met most of the ladies on the loop, I have made wonderful online friends that I will have forever! Many of the ladies on the loop have created blogs like I have. This week they have been posting their wedding pictures on their blogs. I didn't think I would be able to post any because our scanner is not hooked up to a computer right now but my online friend De'Etta suggested taking a picture of the picture so that is what I did.
I met Carlos in the winter of 1986. At that time I was kind of seeing someone else. By the summer, I knew this other gentleman was not what God had for me. In July, the Lord started putting feelings in me for Carlos. What I didn't know was that Carlos had told his cousin Maurice weeks before I ever met him the following: One Sunday morning at church he and his cousin were sitting on one side of the church in the front row and I was sitting on the other side of the church in the front row. He leaned over to his cousin and said, "See that girl, I am going to marry her someday!" - which he did the following year. We got married April 4th 1987 and so we will be married 20 years this April! Here are some photo's from our special day. This first photo was taken minutes before walking down the aisle.
My mom giving me some last minute tips.
This is on our way out of the church right after the ceremony.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
Pastor Benny Hinn married us.
Our wedding party . . . boy - they are going to love me for posting this!
My parents
Carlos' parents
My dad is full blooded Greek. As part of our reception we did have some Greek dancing.
This next picture makes me sad. I do not have this ring anymore . . .it is somewhere in Miami. Back in 1991 we were down at my parents. My dad took me, Alexia and Jordan to the mall to walk around and to get ice cream. Back then I had a very bad habit of pushing my ring up my finger and then pushing it back down. Well, some how . . .I lost my ring at the mall. I remember sitting down and having ice cream when I noticed that my ring was not on my finger. I couldn't believe it . . .we looked everywhere . . we went to every store . . .no ring. I was so sad . . .even my dad started to shed a tear. Carlos was out of town preaching somewhere so he wasn't with us on this trip. I was so nervous to tell him about the ring. I got home a few days later and I noticed that I was "late" for that time of the month. I did a pregnancy test and sure enough I was pregnant. So, I picked Carlos up from the airport. I suggested we stop and get something to eat. During dinner I told him I have good news and bad news. He wanted the bad news first . . I told him about the ring . .. he was shocked and quiet. The sad thing is . . .we didn't have insurance so we didn't know how I was going to get another ring. Well, then I told him the good news. Again he was shocked . . .but was HAPPY! I know the Lord worked it out that he blessed me with this new baby (Taylor) when He knew I was going to lose my ring. About a week later my dad called me and totally shocked me . . . he said he wanted to help me get another ring. He ended up paying for half of my new one. Thanks dad!!!!This picture is the only picture I have of my original ring!
Now 20 years and 5 children later . . . we are so happy! I thank God for blessing me with a wonderful husband, provider and incredible father to our children. I love you honey!

Hey, you have one of those dresses too, very similar to mine and Kelly's! My cake looks a whole lot like yours too. The "big hair" of your wedding party made me smile (men and women!).
I didn't have my ring for long. A few months after we got married, I saw a friend's ring and decided I wanted one like that. Robert was working in jewelry, so that was the time to get a great discount. We switched the diamond, and I called my new ring my "Wheel of Fortune" ring, LOL.
All of these pics have been fun to see!
Beautiful pictures, Emily. What a lovely couple. How sad to lose your ring. My goodness! I occasionally dream about losing my diamond (and it's just a fairly small one). The worry must be in the back of my mind somewhere. How terribly sweet of your dad to help you with a new ring. Yay!
Lovely pictures, Emily!
I don't wear my original ring either. I now have a silver one, instead of gold. It's not the ring that's important, but what it symbolises!
Dorothy
awwww what lovely pictures!
I lost the diamond from my engagement ring a couple years ago. I was pretty sad because it was given to us to use by my grandmother. I do the SAME thing you mentioned with my wedding ring, puch it up and down my finger without thinking. I'll have to try and stop that habit. I felt it almost fall off once.
Kristine - Isn't the hair too funny. What we didn't realize back then was how silly we all looked :-)
Kathy - I was so surprised but thankful that my dad helped us out. I was crushed that I lost it but it wasn't so much "the ring" but that it was the ring that he placed on my finger on our wedding day.
Dorothy - what you said is true - it's not the ring but just what it symbolizes :-)
Jodi - I had to break my habit after losing my ring. Now you wouldn't catch me pushing my ring up my finger :-)
Gorgeous photos, Emily. I'm glad the idea worked for you.
Thanks for the idea De'Etta!
What a sweet story, Emily. I don't wear any rings because my fingers fluctuate in size too much and I have to take them off when I play the piano, do much typing, exercise, etc.... When I used to "work" I would wear it to work and then take it off as soon as I got there often forgetting it in my desk drawer. I even left it on the piano at church a few times so I decided it was better to leave it at home than forget it somewhere and lose it. I wear it occasionally if we are going out to dinner or something, but that's about it.
Cindy - I know someone who wears her ring around her neck on a chain. She like you - didn't want to wear rings on her hand. I don't wear my rings when I am at home or riding my horse . . only when I go out!
We got married in 1987 too! It was a great year.
I lost the diamond in my ring a few years ago and I was sick about it! My dh bought me a new diamond for our anniversary that year. Now I have to remember to have the setting checked so that doesn't happen again.
Diann
Diann, I know exactly how you must of felt. I am so careful with my new ring!!
Your dress looks like mine! Wow! And I had the big hair too! And, oddly enough, we have the picture of our hands with our rings and mine makes me sad because I lost my ring as well. I had one ring - my grandmother's band with my diamond mounted on it. I had taken it off to put on lotion while waiting in the car with the kids while Steve went in somewhere. Josh accidentally pushed the button that made the seat fold forward and it was crushing him. I jumped out of the car and my ring must have rolled into the sewer drain in front of our parking spot. I was very sad.
Oh Ginger! How sad . . . I know how you felt . . it's so sad to lose something so sentimental!
ahhhh, happy anniversary you guys! I love how you put all the pics of your family together. Of course this is a late wish. I finally found my blog, but all my posts are gone! Wonder where they went? lol A little scary to think they can just disappear like that!
