The Money Finders
You are probably asking, "Who are the money finders?" You probably won't believe this even when I tell you but here goes. . . . In my family for years we have had a "thing" about looking for money as you go about the day - on the floor in stores, parking lots, malls etc . . . Well, last April we decided to have a contest to see who could find the most money. We invited my side of the family and my Carlos' side of the family - plus any any of my sister's or brother's inlaws families. There are about 20 of us who are currently playing around the United States. We decided to start a yahoo email list so we could easily post how much we find so we came up with the name The Money Finders. Each month we have a monthly winner - that we have named the BIG KAHUNA - each month you win you receive one point. Then we will also have a winner for whoever finds the most money from April through December. The person with the most points at the end of the year will get $1.00 from each of the participants and the person who found the most money will receive $1.00 for each of the participants. Then at the end of the December - each person will give the money they found minus the $2.00 that they gave for the winners and give it to the charity of their choice. Since April 1st we have found $247.35. It's amazing that we have found that much money just by finding mostly pennies, nickels and dimes. When someone finds money they post on the email group how much they found and where they find it. I am in charge of posting the daily totals for everyone. My creative sister Stephanie found these cups that say BIG KAHUNA on them. She surprised us all and had saved many our posts - and she gives the winner each month a BIG KAHUNA cup - that has many of the posts we have made throughout the month printed and glued to the cup. It's been a fun thing for the family to do and the money is going to great causes. So, the next time you see a penny on the ground - think about the money finders that are all around the US looking for money too :-) Here I am below- I was the BIG KAHUNA for April!
Taylor has been the Big Kahuna twice - May and October!

This is so cool, Emily! How fun to do this project as a large group and ultimately join together to bless a charity!
WE have had so much fun seeing where everyone is finding there money plus like you said it is a lot of fun!
I love this idea! I may try to do this starting in January.
What a HOOT! It sounds like a very fun and creative game!

It's funny how many people who find out what we are doing are going to start it up with their families in January too. It's a fun and great way to bring families together across America and maybe the world :-)
