A Comforting Bear
While we were in Missouri visting Jordan and attending One Thing and The Call our family was able to meet many of Jordan's new friends. One friend in particular Sierra took a liking to. Her name is Jessica. Alexia and Sierra stayed at her apartment the week that we were there. Jessica is just adorable and so sweet (we love her) but we are amazed at the liking that Sierra has taken with her.
The day we left Missouri Sierra cried when we left and cried for the first hour on the road. We thought she had a stomach ache but we later found out that she didn't want to leave Jessica.
Fast forward to this week. Last weekend I was putting Sierra to sleep . . .she told me that she was going to listen to Misty Edwards (she is a IHOP praise and worship leader) on her IPOD. I asked her why . . .she said because she reminds her of Jessica. About a half hour later I came up stairs to bring some clean laundry and I heard her crying . . . really crying. I ran into her room and I asked her what was wrong. She said that she missed Jessica. I couldn't get her to stop crying so I called Jess and asked her to please say some comforting words to Sierra. She did and calmed her down . . that is until she hung up and then Sierra started crying again. So, I brought her into my bed and brought up my blog so she could go to sleep looking at this picture.
The next day at Sierra came home from school and handed me five letters. She asked me to please mail them. I asked her to who and she said they all were for Jessica. I asked her why she wrote so many and she said that her teacher told her that would be a good idea. I then realized that she must of cried during school. I asked her if she did and she looked at me with those big eyes and said yes. I asked her what she told her teacher. She said that her teacher asked her what was wrong and told her that she missed someone terribly who was back in Missouri. That is when the teacher told her it would be a good idea to write her a letter. So, we mailed all five letters.
The next night . . .the same thing happened . .. . and so on and so on. One time when Jess comforted Sierra on the phone she told her that she was going to mail her a teddy bear that she owned so that when she felt sad and missed her she could hug the teddy bear. Well, the package arrived today and let me tell you Sierra hasn't put down that teddy bear.
Tonight was the first night that she didn't cry herself to sleep. She was so happy to have Jessica's teddy bear. Thanks Jess!
On a sidenote . . . . .Jordan called Jessica's father and asked his permission to get to know Jessica better. Her father gave him the go ahead to do that . . .so we will see what the future holds.

I'm reading through this very sweet story, Emily, until I get to your sidenote at the end. WHAT a sidenote!!!! I'll have to close my mouth soon! Wow. It looks like Sierra has GREAT taste, lol!
And what a sweetheart Jessica is to take the time to send the bear to Sierra!
It's so exciting to see all of these SHS "kids" growing up!
Yeah . . .nothing like laying out a bombshell at the bottom of a blog post :-) LOL
I was thinking this is where it was headed the whole time I read this entry, but then you gave me a heads up earlier (LOL). I just couldn't remember her name.
I knew this had to be going here. ::snort:: Jessica is a sweetie to send the teddy bear to Sierra.
When the girls left we bought some teddy bears, all hugged them and then sent them in a carepackage. We told them if they were ever blue and when they missed us to hug the teddy because it stored all our hugs. LOL
