Back Home To The SunShine State

What's wrong with this picture? We arrived home to Florida to temperatures in the low 20's. We couldn't believe it . . . it was freezing here too. When we left Jordan's yesterday it was about 11 degrees and that doesn't include the windchill. As we started driving south you would of thought it would of started to warm up . . . NOT . . .it stayed in the teens all the way into northern Florida. We finally hit the low 20's as we ventured into Gainesville.

When we got to the house everyone was tired and cold. Alexia and Taylor went right to bed. Carlos unloaded the van and Sierra, Landon and I ran for the family room and started a fire in the fireplace. We all cuddled up with blankets and fell asleep with the help of the warmth of the fire. Poor Carlos had to unload it all by himself . .. sorry honey.

After resting all afternoon we slowly started to unpack. We are only half done at this point but I will work on it more this evening. When we left the house two weeks ago we left the pantry and fridge with little food. I like to eat what we have and get rid of things before we leave to go on a trip. I had planned to go to the grocery today but I was too cold and too tired so we have been scraping all day today. We were blessed by my neighbor Sheila. She was kind enough to get our mail and feed Jeter while we were gone. When she brought the mail over she also brought us a homemade apple pie that just came right out of the oven. Hmmmm . . .it was so good. That was a wonderful surprise to receive! Thanks Sheila!

Well, I need to go find "something" to make for dinner. I hope I find something :-)

Yes! Missouri is cold! But at least we sort of expect it. We heard on the news about the cold sweep all the way south including Florida. :)

Looks like you had a great time up here - "sort of" in my neck of the woods. But it is hard to come home from such a long trip. So much to do and so little energy!

I didn't realize how cold Missouri gets. Where I am from in northern IN and where we were the week before MO it was not half as cold there. I had a hard time staying warm the whole week we were in MO . . thank goodness for Starbucks! LOL

Glad you guys made it home safely....I know how a LONG drive feels. Once when my sister's family lived in Fort Myer, FL my Mom & I made the drive to visit. It took 16 hours. I started thinking that the place didn't really exist. LOL We are suffering low temps too! Burrr!

Brrrrr.... I think I heard someone said they were even expecting some snow in FL. Is that right? Has it warmed back up now?
