The Washinton Monument and The Lincoln Memorial

From the Capital to the Washington Monument is 1 mile and from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial is another mile. We decided to make the long journey.Do you notice the two different color? That happened in the building process. There was a delay in building due to the war so after the war a different quarry was used which resulted in the different color.
The Lincoln Memorial is directly behind the Washington Monument.

The White House to the other side.
The Jefferson Memorial is to the other side.
As we left the Washington Monument we walked toward the Lincoln Memorial. The reflection pool which was really dirty which is something I had not seen before. It was heavily polluted with Canadian Geese and Duck poop . .. .yuck!
As we approached the Lincoln Memorial there was an area with a fountain and stone memorials representing each state.
We all took pictures with our birthplace state.

Arriving at the Lincoln Memorial

What an incredible memorial!
What an awesome president!
A nice girl from Germany took our picture.

We haven't been to all of the monuments yet. Only a few of them. I thought I'd go back later when the boys are older and would appreciate all of the war memorials.
