October 1st Annual Fall Decorating Day
Every October 1st I decorate our home for the Autumn. I LOVE this time of year. Now, I have to admit I loved it a lot better when I lived in Indiana where it actually felt like fall in October:-) Living here in Florida our fall comes later than normal . . .for example it was 85 today. Even though the temps still feel like summertime I still go ahead and break open the fall containers which I did today.
Before decorating I first headed to the grocery and to Wal-Mart. I first picked up these cinammon scented pine cones. I love putting them in baskets all throughout the house. It brings such a nice warm scent. I also found some fun autumn looking Kleenexes too! I usually find the Bounty Fall Papertowels and napkins but couldn't find them today.
One of my favorite things are Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. I love when they wrap them in the fall colors. They always look great in a candy dish.
After I got home I first started with the table. I put out a new tablecloth, placemats, napkins and our fall centerpiece.

I LOVE your fall decorating. We recently purchased a bunch of fall colored napkins at Target in the $1 bin... they weren't $1, but I think they were only $2 something for 2 of them. They are nice fall colors and they have embroidered leaves on them. I'm going to upload some pics of our dining room later and you'll see them.
I bought some cool looking fall placemats at WalMart of all places! They look like suede and they really look nice in our lodgey dining room.
Ohhhhhh I saw those today Cindy . . .they are so nice! I bet they look great!!!
Emily, I'm with Cynthia! I LOVE your seasonal decorating. I never do much of it myself (except for Christmas) and it's a lovely treat to enjoy your home. :)
I plan to start a new tradition of doing some decorating! Maybe I better do that today!
Kathy - this tradition of decorating for the holidays stems from my mom. Growing up she did the samething so I just followed in her footsteps for my family!
Cindy - take pictures after you do!
Emily,
I so admire the efforts you make to create a wonderful welcoming atmosphere in your home.
Thanks Dorothy! I am forever trying to make our home feel warm and inviting!
