Italy Day 7 - Part 2
Outside the Coloseum you could walk through the Roman ruins that they have been excavating.
They are still digging and finding more and more.
This is the place where Ceasar was burned after he was exectuted.
A few of the churches had many steps leading up to their entrances. We were told that they used these steps as a way of repentance for their sins. They would have to crawl on their knees up to the church. Ouch!
After a long day of site seeing we headed to dinner. We stumbled across this wonderful restaurant which has now been stated as our favorite.
The food was so good.
Sitting behind us in the restaurant we met Mike. It just so happens he works for the same company that John does but he works out of San Francisco. He gave us wonderful tips on where to go and what to see while we were staying in Rome. I can't wait to tell John and Brenda . . .what a small world.
The end to a great day!

Thank you so much for the pictures and updates on your trip,Italy looks beautiful, and it is amazing that they have structures 2000 years old, and here in America we have structures 4-500 years old because we are so young (in settlement) compared to the rest of the world... I am glad your having a wonderful time.
We love you and miss you....
Great photos! Thanks so much for sharing them!
I was just going to ask if you took any guided tours or if you just winged it on your own?
Thanks so much Cathie - we had also said the samething about America being so young and how old Rome is . . .it was incredible! Love and miss you too!
Cindy - the guided tours were nice because it helped to explain things along the way of what you were seeing. Plus, you just jump off and on the bus when you want to get out to look around.
