Carlos Has a "NEW" Baby

Well, as many of you know . . .Carlos's beloved cat Cassie vanished about 1 month ago. We had her since she was 6 months old . . .she had just turned 12 when she came up missing. We don't know if she went off to pass away or if something else happened to her.

Carlos was extremely close to Cassie and he has been missing her a lot lately. Well, a few weeks ago I started looking for a new kitten . . .without tell him I was looking. I thought I would surprise him. Well, I looked and looked and couldn't find anything around this area.

Last week I was on my friend Sherri's myspace and she had a bulletin posted that her cousin had an 8 week old kitten available. I asked her to email me a picture. She sent a sweet picture of an adorable little black and white little boy kitten. I told her we would take it.

Well, today was the big day. I had not told ANYONE what was going on . . .and noone ever knew I had even been looking for a new kitten for him. After church Carlos had to run our guest speaker to the airport so Taylor went with him. Alexia went out to eat with some friends so I had to fill in Landon and Sierra what was going on. They were so excited when they found out that we were going to pickup the new kitten.

I met Sherri's cousin Tammy around 2:00 pm to pick up this cute little bundle of fur!

He wasn't too sure about being in the car once we drove off. He kept looking around everywhere.Finally he settled down in the box.And eventually went to sleep!We were almost home when he wokeup.
We were so excited to show Carlos his surprise. I wasn't sure how he was going to feel . . .I hadn't asked him about getting a new kitten . . .and I didn't know if it was too soon after Cassie but he ended up falling in love with him instantly!When Tammy brought us the kitten she also gave us this cute "cat" hut too! He seemed to really like it.
We decided since it was the last day before school started that we would all spend some time in the pool and then maybe later on play some board games. It was perfect weather for the pool . . I didn't take pictures because I was in the pool myself today. :-)

After we got tired of swimming the kids all went inside to change but Carlos and I stayed out by the pool to talk for awhile. We started talking about what he wanted to name his new friend. He decided on "Jeter" . . . for some of you who are not New York Yankee fans . . .well, he named his kitten after Derek Jeter the short stop for the Yankees. Carlos is a HUGE Yankee Fanatic:-)

Little Jeter was meowing and meowing so Carlos went and brought him over to his chair. It was amazing . . .the kitten immediatley calmed down and found a comfortable spot right next to him. Carlos ended up falling asleep . . . .
I am always amazed how all cats love Carlos. He just has a way with them.
He ended up falling fast asleep too!Carlos thanked me for a wonderful surprise! I am glad I was able to bring him a new buddy!
Later this evening, we had dinner and then we had the kids all take their showers early because tonight is the first "school night" of the year so school bedtimes come in to effect tonight.
I had to make one more Wal-Mart run to pick up some last minute school items I had forgot earlier in the week.

If you all think of Landon tomorrow . . .he is a little nervous about starting Middle School. Please pray that he has an awesome day and that the butterflies in his tummy are minimal!
