Tornado Tuesday

Sierra and I were car-less until about 1:00 this afternoon when my father in law brought his car over so we could use it for a few hours. (Thanks Pops) We first headed to the post office to mail a package to my friend Susha. While we were there we ran in to my niece Selena and my friend Della. It was so good to see them. I haven't been able to spend too much time with Selena this summer due to our traveling so it was great to see her.
Selena and Sierra . . .to bad Sierra's eyes were closed.I am going to get Selena either tomorrow or Friday to spend the day with us. We have missed not seeing her each week!
We then headed out to grab a bite to eat. I let Sierra choose and she picked McDonalds . . .I should of known :-) Then it was to Wal-Mart and Publix. We then headed home and unloaded all of our groceries and things. After putting it all away it was then time to head over to my friends barn. My friend Leanna is getting ready to go on vacation so I am going to be taking care of her horses and other animals while she is gone so she wanted to show me where everything.
While we were there a storm came in . . .we were in the barn when the rain started pounding . . I had Sierra with me. About that time Lisa called and told me to get home because a tornado was headed right toward our little town. I got right off the phone and told Leanna what was going on. She ran for her house and we ran to our car. She lives right across the street from me so we didn't have far to drive.
When we got in the house our power was out. I then received a phone call from Della. She was calling to make sure that I knew about the tornado . . . she said she and her two grandkids were in the bathtub with a mattress on top of them. I told her we were ok and I was just getting Sierra into our "safe closet" (the closet under our stairs) After I hung up the phone I grabbed the flash light and Sierra grabbed her DS game and we both got in the closet.
I called Carlos on my cell and asked him to pray . . .he did . . and we felt much better. About 20 minutes later the storm started to subside. I asked Sierra to stay in the closet while I checked things out . . .PTL . . no damage and no tornado came close from what I could see. God is good!
When I realized it was safe I let Sierra come out too. The storm has passed! It was scarey . . .the unknown of a tornado is much more intense than going through a hurricane . . at least you have some prep time when a hurricane is coming.
Thank you Lord for keeping us safe!
After all the stress that the storm caused . . I decided I needed to relax so I headed upstairs and decided to take a nice relaxing bath. So, I got everything ready . . .and then enjoyed a good 30 minutes of relaxation! I feel so much better plus I got 30 minutes of good reading in.
This evening while Sierra was taking her bath I talked to Lisa, Carlos and Della on the phone. Now, I am calling it a night . . .hopefully I can get in a few more minutes of reading in before I fall asleep!

Thank God you are all OK. I wondered what you are supposed to do if you are out in your car during a tornado?

If the tornado is coming right towards you I have heard to get out of the car and get into a ditch . . .if it was still far enough away . . .then I would drive as fast as I could away from it.
I am not sure really what the proper thing do would be.

Sounds like a good day of settling in - until the tornado that is. LOL Glad you are safe.

I want your tub...but I'm content...really I am. ::snort::

Thanks De'Etta . . .glad that ordeal is now over. As far as the tub . . . I actually would like to get a new one if we ever build again . . because our master is upstairs I didn't put in a "jacuzzi" tub because it would of been too noisy and you would of been able to hear it from downstairs. . .the next house we build will have the master downstairs and a jet tub. Lisa's new house has a jacuzzi tub and she uses it almost every night!
Anways, I love taking a bath . . it really helps relax me at the end of the day!

YIKES! That's scary. You're right.. at least with a hurricane you know it's coming days before it hits.

Cindy - I dislike the uncertainty of a tornado . . all you can do is pray!
