Saturday at Blue Springs
Today Ken, Lisa, their kids, Sierra and I headed to Blue Springs for a birthday gathering for our friend Isai. This was the first time I had been there in over 20 years. The last time I was at Blue Springs was before I was married.
The springs are beautiful! The water temps are a constant 70 degrees year round so the water is chilly.
The springs connect to the very large St. Johns River.
At the springs you can swim, scuba, canoe, or just float down the springs on an innertube.
Sierra is at the bottom of the stairs ready to get in. She is brave . . . the water was too cold for me.

There are many things that lurk in the springs . . .there are manatees and gators - though the gators tend to stay away when the park is filled with so many people.

Ava enjoying the day!

Kaitlyn and Christian having a snack.
There were ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch. Our friends brought the most wonderful Spanish bread to make the sandwiches with.
Me and my KK
There was a small nature trail that we walked down.
We ran into some of our friends while walking down the trail.

We then headed back to the water. Kaitlyn was ready to get in.
While we were there we we saw scuba divers.
There were a lot of inner tubes headed down the springs.
Kaitlyn and I were picture happy :-)

The Birthday Boy!
Sierra and Kaitlyn
The two newlyweds - Isai and Samantha

Meraly's husband Gus and Miguel
Meraly and I . . . I had a picture of their other brother Josue but for some reason it came out blurry. Later in the afternoon a very bad lightning and thunderstorm came in so we all made a run for it. It was a wonderful day!!!
Ken and Lisa dropped us off at the house. It was still raining by the time we got home. Sierra and I both took nice warm showers and threw our pj's on. I made some dinner and then brewed a nice pot of coffee. I was going to do some reading but I then spotted on our bookshelf the movie Anne Green of Gables. I asked Sierra is she would like to watch it . . .neither one of us had seen it. She agreed that it was a great idea.
So, we made some popcorn and a few other snacks and started the movie. We loved it! I am so glad I saw the movie on the shelf. It was the perfect way to end the day!

Now we are waiting for everyone to get home. I have a feeling it is going to be late so I will have to put Sierra to bed before they get here!

Looks like a perfect birthday celebration.
It was a nice day! I had forgotten how nice the springs were.
I've nominated you for an award on my blog.
De'Etta . . .I might have to email you because I doubt that you will check back to this post again . . but how do I do the link thing . . .awhile back Kathy had nominated me for something or tagged me . . .I can't remember . .I didn't know what to do so I didn't do anything :-) I guess I should figure out what I am to do . . .
Thanks for the award . . that was very sweet!
It looks fun, but you wouldn't get me into that river.{g}
Would one of the 'submerged hazards' mentioned in that notice be alligators??????
Floating at the springs sounds like so much fun. I think I would be a little leery of those unseen hazards though (LOL).
Dorothy and Cindy . .. yes, the gators are hazards of the springs but the park rangers there have reassured us they do not hang around when that many people are around . . .I am not sure if I believe that or not :-)
Sierra sure didn't have any fear. . .she was in the water almost the whole time.
