7/7/07 The Call Nashville

All I can say is "WOW" about what we experienced yesterday. It was incredible! Our day started our by waking up at 4:30 in the morning. Everyone was suppose to meet about 3 miles away at a starting point. This is where a 3 mile walk through the downtown would happen. This was just not any walk or march . . .it was over 20,000 people getting together to "pray silently" as we walked toward the stadium.

When we first arrived at 6 a.m. there were probably about 300 people but minute by minute more and more arrived.
It's is impossible to tell from these pictures but there were TONS of people everywhere. They were expecting 10,000 to show up for the prayer walk but the last number I heard was over 20,000 were there.

Lou Engle, who heads up The Call asked us to all get on our knees to pray before we left. What an amazing site to look around and see so many down on their knees praying.

Then the 2.7 mile prayer walk began. We were asked not to talk . . not to hold banners but to just pray silently the whole way. What an amazing site . . . the people came out of no where. We had no idea that there were that many people. Theses next few pictures don't do it justice. It was amazing!

This was our look as we finished the walk . . .we were walking over the bridge to LP Stadium.
The Call started at 9:00 am in the morning. This is Lou Engle . . .I was too far away to get a good picture so this is from the big screen. He told us that when he rented the stadium months ago the owner laughed. He said you will never fill it. He said the only time it has been filled was for the football games. Little did he know what was about to happen in his stadium. The people kept flooding in!
What an incredible site!
They even had HUGE screens outside the stadium for over flow.
The stadium holds 88,000

Sierra and I opted to sit in the stands but the rest of the group made it right down to the very front on the floor!

The praise and worship was awesome! How cool it was to see 100,000 people praising and worshipping God all at once. A little taste of what heaven will be like.

Michael W. Smith attended and read a letter from President Bush. He also sang some incredible songs of worship.

You can barely see him but here Michael is reading the letter. We then prayed for President Bush, the Senate and the House of Representatives. We prayed for America!

This is Senator Brownbeck. He is a spirit filled born again believer who is running for president. He was not there for any political statement. He is friends with the founders of The Call . . .he was there to help pray for some of the different topics.
When the day first started it was overcast. It was hot but at least the sun didn't pop his head out. Then about noonish the sun came out and boy did it get hot. It was in the 90's with no shade for the second half of the day. I had to keep my head and shoulders covered . . .I know I look funny but you it soooooooooo hot!

I had a baseball hat for Sierra but she kept taking it off.

In the afternoon the ushers passed out a LIFE sticker and a red armband that said LIFE on it. Enclosed with the bracelet was this prayer that they asked us to pray.

Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins
and over the sins of my nation. God
end abortion and send revival to America.

They then asked everyone to place the LIFE tape over our mouthes. We were to pray silently against abortion, pray for the pregnant mother's . . .etc . . .

They then had us remove the tape and then we all said together the above prayer!

Sierra met a new friend Rebecca. She and her family sat in front of us. The two of them just clicked!Later on this evening Ricky Skaggs called for the 300 or so men who had Shofar's. They all marched together from the front to the back. Then when he gave the sign . . . they all began to blow. The sound of the Shofar's and 100,000 people shouting out to God at the same time was something I will never forget!

The whole day was incredible. We were so exhausted when we reached the hotel but we were hungry too. We decided to run inside and put away all our things. While we were waiting for the elevator . . .in walks Lou Engle . . .he is the one who started The Call's. He is staying in the same hotel we are.
We then headed to the main drag in Nashville. We went to a burger joint that was open late.

Chris and Taylor

Alexia and Vienna
Me and Jordan
Sierra and Erika
Carlos and Landon
What an awesome day! They are already planning the 2008 The Call. It will be held in Washington DC and they are expecting over a million people. The tentative date is 8/8/08.
Carlos, Jordan, Alexia, Taylor and about 12 young adults are all headed to Missouri on Sunday. They will be doing a 3 week internship there. Also, Carlos will be helping Jordan move into the house and get him ready to start at the Music Academy next month.
Sierra, Landon and I are leaving Nashville this morning . . . Sunday the 8th.

How totally exciting to be a part of such an awesome event. The DC one next year sounds great! I bet it's still hot there in August though... Maybe I'll plan to go to a 9-9-09 event and hope the weather would be cooler by then (LOL)! I wouldn't have known anything about this if I hadn't read it on your blog.

Wow! What a truly incredible event. I'm so glad you were able to take pictures (so much easier for us visual people to, uh, visualize it). It must be late because I'm dropping words here. Sorry.

Anyway, I loved the post! Thanks for sharing. :)
