Hot, Humid and Hazy

Today I went riding with Pam and Leanna. We got started earlier than normal because it has been so hot . . today it's suppose to be in the low 90's.

This is Smarty she is 30 years old. . .she is one of 5 horses that Pam owns. She has owned Smarty for 24 years.
If you look closely under the tree you can see one black bull. It is unusual for the bull to be separate from the herd but it has been so hot he probably needed to cool off in the shade. The last time we went riding I forgot my camera . . .the cactus were blooming so beautifully. Today they were still blooming but you can tell they are at the end of the blooms.
We ran in to these two at the beginning of our ride.
We live about 3 1/2 hours south of the Georgia border. Southern Georgia has been fighting fires for the last few weeks. If you can believe it . . . the smoke has reached its way all the way down to us. You can see how hazy and smoky it is in this picture.Pam and Smarty

I borrowed Leanna's hat today. I am trying to keep the sun off my face . . now that I am in my 40's . . I am trying to avoid wrinkles :-) I actually have used sunscreen on my face almost every day since I turned 30.

At the end of the ride these two were at the fence . .
Tonight the kids have youth group. Lisa and Kaitlyn picked up Sierra at 3:30 to head up to the church early . I ended up getting to the church around 6:00pm. Carlos, Ken, Lisa, Kaitlyn and myself all headed to Steak n Ale for dinner. After we finished we headed to Bed Bath and Beyond and Ross. Lisa had gift cards for both places. She found some bar stools that she loved, a beautiful framed print and a couple decorative pieces of pottery.
We went to their house and we ended up setting everything up in the house. It looks very nice . .. She's doing a great job decorating!

Lisa also posted about the smoke in your area. I hope they get the fires put out soon. We've gotten quite a bit of smoke in our valley some years when there have been lots of forest fiers. I almost feel claustrophobic then since you can't get away from the smoke.. not until the wind blows it out.

Did you mean 3 1/2 hours south of Georgia?

Love you!

Cindy - it is really hard for everyone with allergies . .I even found it difficult to breathe while we were riding on Friday.

Lil - thanks for catching that :-)

The horses are all so cute. Talk about learning something every day...how did not know you get cactus in FL??? I was thinking of them as a southwest plant not a south anywhere plant!

Jodi - The pastures are filled with the cactus around here . . .I was surprised the first time I saw them too :-)
