Name These Birds!!

Ok, I know you all are out there . . .those who love birds and helped me to identify the other guys that like my yard . . . what kind of birds are these? It looks like they have yellow beaks and black legs.

It is a rainy Saturday morning here. We wokeup to a roar of thunder. I told Carlos that the people who went through the tornadoes must be cringing with ever thunder noise. It's kind of like after 9-11 . . . every time I saw a jet it would bring back the horrible memory of the terrorist running the planes into our towers.

It is a quiet here this morning. Jordan and Alexia are both at work. Carlos went to a prayer meeting. Taylor is at a friends house for the weekend. They attend our church and will be bringing him to church tomorrow. Landon and Sierra are upstairs playing and I am sitting here watching the Food Network. I need to get motivated and go clean our upstairs.

Emily, these could be a couple of different birds. I can't see all the colors, so here goes..

If they have black legs and a yellow bill, they are most likely Great Egrets.

If they have black legs, but yellow feet and a darker bill, they are Snowy Egrets.

If they have yellow legs, feet and bill, they would be a Great White Heron.

How fun for you to see such interesting birds. We will get the Great Egret here in the summer, but just solitary birds.

Debbie - I blew up one of the pictures and it looks like they have black legs and a yellow bill so I guess that means they are Great Egrets! Thanks so much! I never knew I would be getting a Science lesson when creating this blog . . .this is great!

Jodi, a few weeks ago there was another bird specie in my yard. I had no idea what they were so Debbie and a few others let me know what they were. I then found these guys in my yard and thought I might as well find out their names too :-)
