Pregnancy Photo's Blessing # 1 - Jordan

I found out I was pregnant with our first baby 5 months after we got married. I was only 22 years old and I was so scared but also happy inside. Growing up I always told everyone I just wanted to be a wife and a mom! Here I am about 6 months pregnant. I think I was about 8 months in this picture.

In this picture I was just getting ready to leave for the hospital. I had woke up around 7:00 am June 4, 1988 to go to the bathroom. I noticed after I got back in bed that I started having "cramps". Those "cramps" got more regular and then we knew that labor had started. I love this picture! When I got to the hospital the nurses checked me in but told me to walk for awhile. We saw this picture - and decided to take a picture while I was still in a good mood :-) We thought this picture kind of looked like my stomach . . .they were both sloping !
I was very scared to get an epidural . . . I told them no one was going to stick a needle in my back LOL so here I am in transitional labor. The sad thing was that Jordan was trying to come out head up instead of head down so eventually that had to go in and turn him over. . . Can you say OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After 17 hours of very painful labor we were blessed with Jordan Daniel. He weighed in at 7 pounds 9 ounces and a long 21 1/2 inches long. It was the most incredible day of my life! As you can see - I had tears of joy! This is our first family picture!
3 days after Jordan was born, Carlos had to leave for Trinadad for a prescheduled missions trip. Thank goodness my mom and grandma came to stay with me for two weeks! Here he is saying goodbye!
I am not sure why . .. but I just noticed I am wearing that blue bow in my hair in every picture . . .
Carlos' cousin Maurice and his wife Sandra had their first baby 6 weeks before I had Jordan. Here is a picture of the proud daddy's with their first borns - Jordan and Matthew!

I was too scared to have contractions so the epidural was just my ticket! Between both kids, I only felt one contraction and that was enough!

Emily, you looked so excited!

Kristine . .. it only took having one baby with pain . . . the other four - EPIDURAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-)

Dorothy - it is amazing . . most people thought they were brother's and not cousins. In fact, he looks more like his cousin than his own brothers.

I didn't have an epidural with any of mine.... I'm STILL scared of needles. The needles were almost the worst part of my root canal today (LOL). With two of mine I didn't even have time to get any pain meds... YIKES!

Don't we all look SO YOUNG way back when we had our firsts? Some time when life slows down around here I'm going to blog some of our "history."

Thanks for sharing.

Cindy - we had such a fun time going through the pictures before I put them on the blog. I am eventually going to post the other four kids. I can't believe how fast 19 years have flown by . . .

Wonderful pictures, Emily! What a fun walk down memory lane. You are doing such a lovely job of capturing the heart and soul of your family and life these days.

P.S. I usually fight hard for those epidurals! :)

Even though I had epidurals with my last four babies it was the one thing about having a baby that I disliked getting. I knew for babies 2-5 I wanted one but I couldn't stand getting one. I was so happy once it was in and that part was done.
