Fabulous Friday Ride

My friend LeAnna searched the internet for a new "riding" trail for us to try. She ended up finding a little part of heaven on earth. It was the most beautiful trail ride I have ever been on. The weather was beautiful . . .it was sunny skies and highs around 72. It was perfect riding weather. We kept commenting on how perfect and beautiful the ride was. Roy , Sharon and Jody who normally ride with us Friday's couldn't make it . . .boy did they miss an incredible ride! Here we are just starting off.
About 5 minutes into the trail ride we ran into a neighbor of mine Michelle and her daughter Madison. They brought their bike out for a day of riding. This particular conservation park allows, horsebackriding, hiking and bicycling.
This picture came in a little blurry but we ran into a herd of cattle.
We turned off on a different trail that took us deeper into the woods. We came across an obstacle . . .Farley made it across but Cloud and Jason said no way . . .:-)
Off to the right of the trail we came upon a beautiful lake. Isn't God's creation beautiful?!

Heading down the trail!
The pine tree forest was unique and something to look at.
We came upon another small lake. We had to keep our eyes out for gators.
and wouldn't you know it . . .. we spotted two in the water. Here is a picture of one of them. LeAnna also saw a HUGE one laying just out of the water taking a nap.

Here is Pam . . .and her horse Jason
and LeAnna and her horse Cloud
Here is a picture of the other gator . . . it is hard to see but he is that little speck out there.

We stopped at a campsite for lunch and a much needed break for the horses.
Good job LeAnna on finding the most perfect place to ride today! It was an awesome day!

I can't ride and have no interest in learning, but that trail would have tempted me!

Beautiful. Do all your lakes have gators in Florida?

People don't swim in lakes there then?

Hey Dorothy, almost every lake has gators and yes people still swim, ski and do many water sports. I know it sounds crazy but you would be surprised at how many do. I grew up in Indiana on a lake where there were NO GATORS when I moved down here where they are everywhere it really scared me. I did ski for the first few years that I moved down here but one of my friends played a joke on me . . .when I was done skiing instead of coming back to get me in the boat . . . he left me in the water by myself for about 20 minutes. . . it FREAKED me out and after that I have not been able to get back in the lakes here. My dad skis every day down here. They live on a lake and he is an avid skier. The gators do not seem to bother him. :-)

Great post and pics, Emily. I know you're not down south, but this is still not at all what I pictured Florida to look like. I loved seeing the incredible variety, the vegetation, hills, grazing, pine trees, lake and -- gators!

When most people think of Florida they think beaches, sand and palm trees but actually it is filled with wonderful pasture, hundreds of lakes, beautiful forests and even rolling hills. The summers are HOT but the winters are beautiful . . .and even sometimes chilly. We don't get the real change of leaves in the fall but for the most part the winter months are just incredible!
