More Fall Decor
Since it was a whopping 90 degrees today and it felt so much like fall (HA HA) I thought a few more fall decorations would be appropriate :-)
I did pick up a pumpkin today so we could carve out the name JESUS in it. I shared the following on one of the email lists I am on:
One fun thing we do with the kids is this: We do not paricipate in Halloween but I explain to the kids that we celebrate "The Harvest" that God has provided. Well, while all the neighbors are carving pumpkins with scarey faces we do something different. We do purchase a nice large pumpkin and then the kids and I carve out the name JESUS. As we are going through the process of cutting, carving and pulling out all the gross stuff inside - I tell them how it relates to us and our sin and how the Lord takes it all away and what's left is the light that shines through us which is JESUS. The kids really love it- we then set it out on our porch - put a votive candle in it and then when the trick or treaters come - they see at the front door - not a pumpkin lit with a scarey face - but one that is lighting up the name of Jesus :-)

I still haven't gotten my decorations out yet! I only have a few compared to you, but I should at least get them out!

I have downsized my decorations too. I would always add more to our collection each year when everything would go on clearance but the organizational freak that I am - couldn't handle storing everything in so many bins so I have narrowed it down to two large bins. :-)
